Litepaper Campaign Highlights and Wrap-Up
Dec 20, 2024
The launch of the Surge Litepaper was an important milestone in our mission to scale Bitcoin. This initiative was a significant step in showcasing the technology and vision behind Surge and our commitment towards solving this critical problem. This was the first key step in actualizing Surge, and the overwhelming response from the community highlights how important our mission is.
We are extremely proud of the hard work our team has put into making this litepaper from concept to reality. We also want to thank our community members, stakeholders, and investors for their amazing support and invaluable feedback that has helped evolve Surge.
The Surge Litepaper
Our litepaper serves as an overview of the technology behind Surge. It explains the architecture of the metalayer, the roles of various nodes in the network, and other fundamental technical aspects in detail. It also explores the use of zero-knowledge proofs, which enable Surge to function as a trust-minimized native metalayer on Bitcoin. Additionally, the litepaper highlights zk-Aggregation, a novel method that enhances scalability and slashes on-chain compute costs, providing developers a great foundation for building rollups & applications on Bitcoin. Dive into the complete litepaper details.
Litepaper Launch & Statistics
Leveraging the huge community support we received in our earlier SurgeSaga campaign, we created a follow-up quest called “LaserEyed Litepaper Legend,” which received an overwhelming response from the community. The quest offered 500 ordinals for participants to mint (hosted on our SurgeSats Keyless wallet) and these were minted in record time, reflecting the community’s excitement. With over 10,000 people taking part in our Galxe quest, we captured a lot of interested builders with feedback on our litepaper.
The campaign also drew attention from a lot of developers and researchers from Bitcoin and Zero-Knowledge communities. They provided a lot of positive feedback about the technology behind Surge and what they want to see from Surge in the future.
Key Takeaways From Feedback
We received feedback from over 100 developers, and several key themes really stood out:
Interest in Interoperability and Composability: A significant number of developers highlighted the importance of making projects within the Bitcoin ecosystem work well together and be more adaptable. They emphasized the need for greater focus on these features to enhance collaboration and flexibility.
Excitement About Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs): Surge's use of ZKPs to cut down on costs and boost scalability really caught the attention of developers. Many were excited about how ZKPs could help improve these areas and make a big difference.
Developers gave many other points about what they are excited about with Surge and Bitcoin but the above two were the top themes.
Looking Ahead
Over the past two quarters, our team has worked hard to build the foundation for Surge, and we’ve made great progress. We’re now ready to move on to the next step.
We’re excited to announce that our testnet will be launching soon, giving partners and developers a chance to try out Surge. This phase is important for getting feedback to improve the technology and get ready for wider use.
We look forward to moving forward with our community, developers, and partners. Stay tuned for updates as we prepare to launch the testnet and work together to build on Bitcoin.
